Yep, it’s that time of year again and you are asking yourself, where the heck am I going to find good Christmas gifts?
That’s a hard question to answer, simply because all individual people have different tastes. So what would be a good Christmas gifts for one wouldn’t be for another!
But I’ve been looking into this because shopping for my teenage children is getting harder and harder every year. Today, I actually asked my son what he was interested in. His answer was, ‘I’m not sure. I have just about everything that I want.’
So, what do you get when you are looking for good Christmas gifts? I’ve started to brainstorm that problem and I think that the solution is simpler than we believe it to be. I’m going to start watching what he is interested in and where he likes to shop.
Did you know that everyone loves to talk about themselves? If you cannot engage Auntie on the other side of the country and you’d love to send her some good Christmas gifts, then just call her and engage her into telling you her favorite shops or hangouts.
Before you know it, you’ll begin to discover where he or she likes to go. Then you are completed step one of the diabolical plan. Step two is to discover if they have gift certificates! Yep, it may sound like cheating, but now you are getting good Christmas gifts that your recipients will use! Not another sweater that they will never wear.
If you find out that they do not have gift certificates, then your next step is to investigate like businesses in your recipient’s home town or city and see if they have. But before you purchase, be sly and sneak into a conversation that you saw something on sale there and see what their response is.
Immediately, if they don’t like to shop there, they’ll tell you. This may knock out that shop for a gift certificate.
Finally when hunting for good Christmas gifts, your last course of action could be as simple as giving them a bit of you and your time. I know that I’m one of the toughest people to buy for, simply because I lack for very much. And when I need something, I just pick it up.
But when my son or daughter gives me an afternoon to help me clean out the garage; that means a lot to me. Way more than any good Christmas gifts could do.
